You can reach almost every part of the world just in a few hours of flight. Now it’s possible to feel the warmth of Africa or sunbathe on Maldives. You can walk along the Chinese wall, sip unforgettable champagne in French Provence, and watch closely whales in the Gulfs of Alaska…

The history of aviation in Croatia goes far back at the beginning of the last century when famous Charles Lindbergh, after he had flown across the Atlantic in 1927, flew to Zagreb (at that time, Borongaj) airport. Since that time locations and circumstances under which Zagreb Airport operated have been changing, but today it is situated in Pleso, a settlement in Velika Gorica.

With its tradition and continuous development, Zagreb Airport is the most important airport not only in Croatia, but in the broader region. For numerous visitors Zagreb Airport is the first contact with Croatia, its culture and folklore art.

The interaction of Velika Gorica and Zagreb Airport is the result of the location itself. It is so close to our town that it simply attracts many travellers, whether they are tourists, businessmen, artists, sportsmen or our fellow-countrymen who live and work abroad to use a break between two flights and to drop by to Velika Gorica. There they can try some of original “delicacies” of Turopolje, which are served in our restaurants. After that they can find some refreshments in a café; or visit some special event.

Did you know that the park around the airport, which is surrounded by oak-tree wood and green areas, is one of the most beautiful airport parks in the world?!
